Lisa Cyr joined the Hand Therapy team at Coastal Orthopedics in 2013. She graduated from Colorado State University with a BS in Occupational Therapy (OT) then worked in numerous areas of occupational therapy before specializing in orthopedic hand therapy. Lisa passed the national hand therapy certification and became a Certified Hand Therapist (CHT) in 1996. She has been specializing in the evaluation and treatment of orthopedic hand, wrist, elbow and shoulder injuries for over 20 years, including fabrication of custom orthotics. She recently returned to school and attained her Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy (OTD) in order to continue as a part-time adjunct professor at Sacred Heart University.
Lisa is very active in the hand therapy community and is a member of the American Association of Hand Surgery, the American Society of Hand Therapists, and both the American and CT Occupational Therapy Associations. She has lectured both nationally and internationally, has multiple publications and has participated in four hand therapy missions with the Guatemala Healing Hands Foundation (www.Guatemalahands.org ), treating Guatemalan children with hand and arm injuries. She is looking forward to the next mission in April 2018!
Lisa is committed to helping patients maximize their recovery after an upper extremity injury so they may return to the activities most important to them.
In her spare time, Lisa loves to hike with her dogs, run, bike, kayak, and lift weights.
